The Merits of Automated CPR

When it comes to cardiac arrest, every second and every compression counts. We should know, as leaders in automated CPR for over 50 years, our devices give your patients their best chance at survival. But how? Isn’t CPR just CPR any way you cut it? No, it isn’t

Our Life-Stat 1008 and Thumper 1007CC automated CPR devices deliver consistent, hands-free CPR, helping your medical staff focus what’s important – assess the patient and delivering life-saving therapy.

Read more about the merits of Michigan Instruments automated CPR and the role it plays in both pre-hospital and in-hospital cardiac arrest below.

Light-Weight and Easy-to-Use

Both devices can be incorporated into a hospital “crash cart” setup, or can be stored in a case that is easily accessed and fits into most standard ambulance storage compartments. Set-up takes seconds and it’s easy to transition from manual CPR to our device with minimal interruption to compressions.

Uninterrupted CPR That Doesn’t Quit

Our automated CPR devices provide your patients with reliable CPR that lasts as long as you need it to. The device provides professionals with a pause/resume feature and operates using an oxygen connection providing complete and uninterrupted CPR, no matter what! Caregiver fatigue is a thing of the past with automated CPR devices from Michigan Instruments.

Increased Patient Access

No need to work around people providing chest compressions. If necessary, Mechanical CPR can be paused and resumed, maintaining nearly complete access to the patient throughout the resuscitation effort.  Our devices were engineered with a “C” arm design, providing more access to the patient than other wrap-around or enclosed models.

Reduced Risk to Patient and Caregivers

Physical limitations and fatigue of a human CPR provider can negatively impact the quality of resuscitation efforts which can hurt the patient’s chances of survival. In addition, manual CPR, when done properly, puts great physical demand on the caregiver, putting them at risk of injury. Mechanical CPR can help to minimize these risks.

Makes CPR During Transport Possible

Attempting to deliver consistent, high-quality manual CPR in transport is extremely difficult, if not impossible.  Furthermore, it increases the risk of injury to the caregiver.  Michigan Instruments’ automated CPR devices can be securely applied to the patient throughout transport, avoiding any interruptions in CPR and giving them their best chance at survival.

Both the Life-State 1008 and Thumper 1007CC automated CPR machines are fully compliant with 2015 AHA CPR Guidelines for chest compressions and the Life-Stat also allows for important rescue ventilation. Common applications for automated CPR machines vary widely and, as you’ll see in the list below, display the true versatility of the device.

Real-world CPR applications include:

  • In-hospital Cardiac Arrest
  • Emergency Departments
  • Coronary & Intensive Care Units
  • Organ Transplant Facilities
  • EMT/Paramedic Units
  • First Responders
  • Ambulance Transport
  • Air Medevac Units
