Realistically Simulate Healthy and Diseased Adult Lungs
Our Lung Simulators provide accurate representations of adult pulmonary mechanics. The total lung capacity replicates a typical adult patient. When our Dual Adult Test Lung is paired with our Breath Simulation Module (BSM), it can be used to create a spontaneously breathing lung model. The addition of the Adult Head Simulation Module (HSM-A) further expands the applications for this dynamic system.
Realistically simulate patient lung capacity, clinically train others on ventilator use and respiratory care in a hands-on setting, and simulate unexpected or difficult scenarios in a safe environment.
Biomedical engineers, manufacturers, and service companies can use lung simulators to do performance testing of mechanical ventilators and related respiratory care devices. These simulators can be an integral part of a risk management and quality control program, used to troubleshoot problems, or verify proper operation.

This is especially important when training on mechanical ventilation but is also valuable with manual ventilation techniques such as use of a resuscitation bag. While our school does have a “hi-def” simulation lab, it is not always accessible, and the lab is not right here in our department. The Michigan Instruments lungs are tremendously useful tools that can be easily manipulated by our students, are cost effective, and are readily available in our own classroom.
