History of Michigan Instruments
Founded in 1964, Claire Barkalow and several private investors developed and launched one of the First Automated CPR Devices—the Thumper Device, generation ONE. Designed to deliver automated compressions and ventilated breathing.
In the early 1970’s, Michigan Instruments developed a Test Lung Simulator, specifically designed for testing of the Automated CPR devices. Quickly gaining a large following in the biomedical industry due to its precision and reliability, the Test Lung Simulator became its own product—widely recognized and utilized worldwide.
Present Day Michigan Instruments
We continue to offer our Automated CPR, now Generation EIGHT. Our CPR devices are fully AHA compliant and the only device available with a built-in ventilator.
